biography.
Kyla Carter is a multifaceted triple threat and a born-and-raised New Yorker whose childhood was shaped by the performing arts. Growing up in cities and on stages across the United States, she began her professional career at just 8 years old when she joined the Broadway National Tour of THE SOUND OF MUSIC. There, she found a second family among some of the industry's most respected actors and directors, including TONY AWARD winner Jack O'Brien.
After more than 18 months on tour, performing over 500 shows in 50 cities across 26 states, Kyla traded The Sound of Music for the sound of sleigh bells when she joined the Broadway National Tour of WHITE CHRISTMAS, directed by four-time TONY NOMINEE Randy Skinner. Her passion for acting, singing, and dancing continued to flourish as she appeared in several acclaimed Broadway AEA labs, including DIANA, where she portrayed Young Princess Diana under the direction of TONY AWARD winner Christopher Ashley, with music by David Bryan of Bon Jovi, and THE BEDWETTER, where she worked alongside comedian Sarah Silverman and TONY AWARD winner director Alex Timbers.
In addition to her extensive Broadway career, Kyla began working professionally in animation at just 5 years old. She is best known as the voice of CJ Suki in DreamWorks Animation's animated television series Trolls: The Beat Goes On! as well as TrollsTopia.
Beyond acting and voiceover, Kyla is a passionate advocate for anti-bullying initiatives and children's mental health. She has dedicated hundreds of volunteer hours to supporting local charities and organizations, using music and her platform to encourage kindness, confidence, and resilience.
Alongside her passion for helping others, Kyla has a deep love for music of all kinds. She can often be found singing and dancing along to Britney Spears, writing songs while accompanying herself on guitar or piano, or spending time with friends over a strawberry matcha or in search of the best sushi spot.
Kyla is currently pursuing her BFA in Musical Theatre at Shenandoah Conservatory, where she continues to refine her craft and is inspired daily by her professors and fellow artists.
Whether performing on a Broadway stage or encouraging someone who needs support, Kyla is happiest when sharing the joy of music, storytelling, and performance with others.
